Antibody status made simple
Antibodies are proteins that keep your body safe from infectious disease. When a threatening virus or bacteria enters your body, antibodies seek it out and destroy it.
When you are given a vaccine, your body gains high levels of antibodies specifically designed to stop a specific disease. Most people are vaccinated as children against polio, mumps, and many more dangerous diseases.
- Almost 1 in 10 people had low antibodies for measles*
- Almost 8 in 10 people had low antibodies for hepatitis A*
- More than 1 in 20 people had low antibodies for polio*
In fact, when the full range of common vaccine preventable infectious diseases were examined, the results were eye opening.
Vaccines are not perfect. Sometimes your antibody levels decrease over time which can leave you unprotected to an infectious disease. In fact, decreased antibodies are more common than most people think.

Nearly 9 out of 10 people showed an antibody gap against 11 common vaccine preventable infectious diseases.*
- Diphtheria
- H. Influenza B
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Measles
- Mumps
- Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
- Polio
- Tetanus
- Varicella Zoster (Chicken Pox)
- Rubella
Antibody gaps like this can leave an entire group of people at higher risk of outbreak.

What Can You Do?
You can take control back. Mass re-vaccination of every American is not practical or affordable. But if you know where the gaps are, you can address them and keep yourself, your family, and your community protected. Once you know your antibody status, you take control of your health and safety.
